Farooq Kathwari |
Kathwari completed his graduate business degree from New York University in 1968. He established the Irfan Kathwari Foundation after his son's name, who died in Afghanistan after joining Mujahideen fighters. Farooq's organization works to promote understanding between the Muslim world and the West.
Farooq founded the Kashmir Study Group in 1996, which he also underwrites. This group is comprised of scholars and experts from both sides of the Indian and Pakistani dispute, the main aim of this group was to conduct studies and offered a framework to end the bloodshed, which started in 1990s. The recommendations of this group have been well received, and its work has even earned tacit support from the government of United States of America.
